Sir Ian is a songwriting alter-ego of musician and singer Bart Hoevenaars from Rotterdam, Netherlands. After having released two albums with Dutch indie-rockband MONO, Hoevenaars started working on more personal, introspective and melancholic songs as Sir Ian. Debut album 'Apathology' was released in february 2010. Second album "II" was released on the 18th of january 2014.

Sir Ian is the solo-project of Bart Hoevenaars, former singer of Dutch rockband Mono. His debut album "Apathology" was released by Dying Giraffe Recordings in February 2010. Second album 'II' was released on vinyl, CD and digital in January 2014 via Sir Ian's own bandcamp.

Sir Ian Murray McKellen CH CBE (born 25 May 1939) is an English actor. His career spans genres ranging from Shakespearean and modern theatre to popular fantasy and science fiction. He is the recipient of six Laurence Olivier Awards, a Tony Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BIF Award, two Saturn Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, and two Critics' Choice Awards.
