Live 1965 wasn't intended to be a special show, but in a way that's why it is. The album was recorded in 1965 on one of Ernest Tubb's many concerts that year and it captures him in his element, joking with the audience and running through a selection of his greatest hits. Though the performance certainly isn't raucous, it's engaging and the disc functions as a valuable historical document.

Camelot's 1999 release of the Complete Live 1965 Show is an expanded, newly remixed version of the same show from the Magic Castle Ballroom near Seattle, WA, that Rhino had out as a 20-song single disc ten years ago. The nine additional tracks include four numbers by Jack Greene and Cal Smith, plus instrumentals by the band, Tubb's "Seaman's Blues," and another rendition of "Walking the Floor Over Yo.
