This is a Herbie Mann discography. Mann spent his early years recording for a number of jazz oriented record labels, and signed with Atlantic Records in 1961. He recorded with them through the 1960s and 1970s, including their subsidiary Cotillion Records, where he ran his own imprint, Embryo Records, in the 1970s, for his records as well as other musicians. Mann also ran two independent record labels, Herbie Mann Music in the 1980s, and during the 1990s, Kokopelli Records. Minor reissues are not noted.

This two-fer from Collectables features a pair of out of print Herbie Mann LPs: Windows Opened and The Inspiration I Feel, both originally issued on Atlantic Records in 1968. These 12 tracks feature jazz versions of popular songs of the period written by Donovan, Tim Hardin, and Jimmy Webb plus six associated with Ray Charles.

8. Drown In My Own Tears. Lonely Avenue, Memphis Underground, Comin Home,baby, His Stone Flute album, any of his collaboration with any other artist. This Man is tone itself. His earliest noises are as superb as his later. His swing, his beats, he even did a disco album. Windows Opened with Roy Ayers and Sonny Sharrock etc is by far the best of the 2. There are only 2 good tracks for me on the orchestrated The Inspiration I Feel, the others marred by a vocal background chorus or by very slow playing on Drown In My Own Tears. Very Good Collectables sound quality.
