Fields was a progressive rock band formed in 1971 by drummer Andrew McCulloch, keyboardist Graham Field, and bassist-vocalist Alan Barry. McCulloch had previously been a member of King Crimson, appearing on the band's third album "Lizard. Field founded Rare Bird in 1968 and departed in early 1971, and Barry was a former member of The Dowlands (aka The Dowland Brothers, 1962-1963) with the Giles brothers Peter and Michael who would eventually become members of King Crimson.

i is the seventh studio album by American indie pop band The Magnetic Fields. It was released on May 4, 2004 by record label Nonesuch. The album ditches many of Stephin Merritt's past synthpop and electropop influences, largely being led by guitars and strings.

He presumably founded Fields to provide more of an outlet for his compositions and fleet-fingered keyboard work, but the group didn't last very long, splitting up after the band's self-titled 1971 debut without having made much of a commercial impact.

Fields biography A trio formed from diverse musicians from other groups such as KING CRIMSON and RARE BIRD, which managed one sole album. FIELDS is named after Graham Field, founding member of RARE BIRD and was responsible for many of the better tracks of the first two albums. After his departure RARE BIRD will change sound rather drastically veering towards a faster tempo rock with funky grooves. As for FIELDS, this is a keyboard-led trio with bassist Alan Barry singing but also playing guitars (although very discreet) but also adding some Mellotron lines.

Fields of Mildew is inspired by the area around the "Teufelsmoor" with a conceptual focus on the late 19th/early 20th century rural life: The people, their work in the fields, superstition and close relation to local tales as well as dire straits - disease, famine, child death. A trio of songs from indie rock veterans, 3ingle showcases their songwriting skill with pared-back, acoustic arrangements.
