Playin' to Win is the fourth album by American southern rock band Outlaws, released in 1978. The album was their first studio project with gwriter Freddie Salem. Salem had replaced founding ger/songwriter Henry Paul, who had acted as the second frontman behind Hughie Thomasson. It was not as well received as their previous three albums.

The Outlaws' 1978 album Playin' to Win marked a significant change in musical direction almost certainly due, in large part, to up-and-coming producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The Florida-based Southern rockers had just come off the live album Bring It Back Alive early that year, and concert albums quite often preface a change in a band's style. Lange made Playin' to Win a much slicker sounding record than the Outlaws' first three studio albums

I was not however a huge fan of Playin' To Win at the time of it's release in 1978 but listening to it now and coming to understand the dynamics taking place in the group at the time I've gained a new appreciation for the material on the record though I still believe the record was overproduced. I do like these 2 Album CD's. always makes me happy.
