Talk about John Cale - Extra Playful: Transitions

A talented Artist Vs. untalented artisans: totally pointless release. The most interesting piece here is the final "Suffocation Raga": a sort of tribute to early Cale's work with La Monte Young. But please forget Maria Minerva & Actress... Funnily enough Double Six decided to omit the best digital remixes (Laurel Halo & Harmonizer). The US "black version" of the original EP by John Cale is much recommended instead...

A waste of everybody's time and a waste of vinyl. I like John Cale and I like the artists who have remixed the work. I just don't like this at all. I find it unlistenable, pedestrian, tedious and very old-fashioned. The beats are lumpy and dated, what on earth was Actress thinking? (his track sounds better at 45, but not much). I get the feeling the people involved spent a spare 10 minutes during their lunch hour on these tracks. Worthless.
