Michael Ronson (26 May 1946 – 29 April 1993) was an English guitarist, songwriter, t, arranger, and producer. He achieved critical and commercial success working with David Bowie as one of the Spiders from Mars. He was a session musician-who recorded with Bowie followed by several albums with Ian Hunter, also Morrissey-as well as a sideman in touring bands with Van Morrison and Bob Dylan.

Indian Summer: Music from the Motion Picture is that most spurious of beasts, the unrecorded soundtrack to a nonexistent movie. Around 1981-1982, Mick Ronson was approached to score a film and, apparently finding himself with a little time on his hands, settled down to sketch out a few ideas. But that was just about all he did - sketch. The idea that the handful of even half-completed demos might someday be combined with a clutch of other outtakes, working versions, and revised oldies and sold to the fan club as some kind of final project surely never crossed his mind.

This album is therefore a chanced-upon treasure trove for fans. The tracks were discovered labelled as film music and are basically unused pieces for a movie that was never made. Shows that Mick Ronson had talent, skills and potential to be so much more than David Bowie's and Ian Hunter's guitarist, but sadly he was taken from us too soon to see it all come to fruition. Which is why I grab up any Ronson product, including bootlegs.
