..The return of pagan beliefs fue un EP grabado por Nazgul antes de Awaiting the battle ravens, y editado como bonus track en este tras su edición por el sello alemán Christhunt Productions. Hoy lo busca muchísima gente, pero la realidad es que nunca llegó a salir editado como 7", aunque esa fue la idea original.
Tras editar Christhunt Productions el CD, Defernos y Thorgul pensaron editar el EP en un 7" edición limitada. El estilo y sonido conseguido en estos temas, se ajustaba mucho mas a la idea de Nazgul, la cual no quedaba plenamente reflejada en el Awaiting the battle ravens. Este disco nunca gustó plenamente a Thorgul, Defernos ni a Grendel, .
Crom de Uruk Hai se encargó de meter la segunda guitarra a los temas, que se grabaron en Madrid mas o menos sobre el 2001 / 2002. La idea era sacar el material en el 2003 por un sello llamado Bastion Records. Sello creado única y expresamente para este EP, que terminó mutando en Ad-Inferos. Los temas se grabaron en una vieja bodega / cueva del 1800 en la zona de Opera. próxima al Madrid de los Austrias. Allí existía una escuela de música reconvertida en estudio de grabaciones que había re utilizado un sótano cuyo origen real era una cueva de la época de la invasión napoleónica.
