Jackson Browne is the eponymous debut album of singer Jackson Browne released in 1972. It peaked on the Billboard 200 chart at number 53. Two singles were released with "Doctor, My Eyes" peaking at number 8 on the Pop Singles chart and "Rock Me on the Water" reaching number 48. Browne had been having minor success as a songwriter but was still unable to obtain his own recording contract.

On his third album, Jackson Browne returned to the themes of his debut record (love, loss, identity, apocalypse) and, amazingly, delved even deeper into them.

The Pretender is the fourth album by the American singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, released in 1976. It peaked at No. 5 on Billboard's album chart. The singles from the album were "Here Come Those Tears Again", which reached No. 23, and "The Pretender", which peaked at No. 58. The Pretender was released after the suicide of Browne's first wife, Phyllis Major. The album has production by Jon Landau and a mixture of styles.

And of course we have third Jackson Browne album called "Late For The Sky". I'd like to compare Jackson Browne with another golden boy from California - Brian Wilson. Both became famous because they celebrated simple lifestyle, surfing, girls, cars, and maybe the biggest hit Browne wrote is "Take It Easy". And, after they gave sunny and funny melodies, both wrote masterpieces about their own insecurities and problems with love affairs: "Pet Sounds" and "Late For The Sky". Browne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. In his induction speech, Bruce Springsteen noted that while the Eagles got to the Hall first, "You (Browne) wrote the songs they wished they had written". Amen to that, all the evidence is on "Late For The Sky".

Jackson Browne, ‘Late for the Sky’. There's an undercurrent of dread on Late for the Sky, from "Before the Deluge" to "For a Dancer" – not to mention a lot of obvious songwriting genius. Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen called Paul Kantner's revolutionary cheerleading "naive," but that didn't prevent the band from delivering this album with sweeping fervor. Also here: the gorgeous "Wooden Ships" and "Eskimo Blue Day," where Grace Slick sings, "The human name doesn't mean shit to a tree.

Jackson Browne is ranked number 417 in the overall artist rankings with a total rank score of 5,923. Members who like this artist also like: Neil Young, Lou Reed and Pink Floyd. Jackson Browne best albums.
