Dark Room is the fourth studio album by Australian band The Angels, released in June 1980. It was their first album for CBS/Epic and was co-produced by the group's John and Richard Brewster (brothers). It peaked at number five on the Kent Music Report Albums Chart. It reached number 37 on the New Zealand Albums Chart in July 1980. In the Australasian market the album provided three singles, "No Secrets" (May 1980), "Poor Baby" (July) and "Face the Day" (August)

Voices in a Rented Room is modestly scaled and simply structured, and Chasny and Quinn are a harmony duo that thrives on mischief and discord. According to Chasny’s blog, New Bums’ debut album has been in the works on-and-off for roughly five years, but Voices in a Rented Room sounds like it was written and recorded in about five hours, with one set of eyes on a watch and the other on the wallet. Melodically, these 12 songs would fit more comfortably in Quinn’s canon than Chasny’s, though the latter’s experience covering old Gary Higgins obscurities prepares him well for the sweet serenading required here.
