Mel Street ‎– Country Colors. Label: Grt ‎– grt 8015. Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Stereo. Country: US. Released: 1976. Genre: Folk, World, & Country.

Mel Street, Country Soul. Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the Country star on one CD: Mel Street (1977) and Country Soul (1978). Already a seasoned veteran, Mel Street would emerge as one of the finest and most promising Country singers of the 1970s. Mel began his career in the 1950s on Cecil Suratt's radio show on stations WELC and WBRW in Welch, West Virginia. By 1960, Mel had moved to Niagara Falls, where he sang in nightclubs and then later he moved to Bluefield and started performing as a member of the band called the Swing Kings on WHIS-TV's Country Jamboree

Country Soul contains recordings of a prestardom Glen Campbell, which were made around 1960-1961. This album, just like the other Starday album Country Music Star No. 1, was released after Glen Campbell rose to international fame with hits like "Gentle on My Mind," "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" and "Wichita Lineman. Campbell sued against these releases but eventually settled with Starday. Side 1: "Why Try To Lie" (Horton/Morgan/Bryan) - 2:13. Smokey Blue Eyes" (Kirkland) - 2:57.

Your Love Got a Hold On Me - Melvin Morrison. The Trucker - Mel Morrison, Melvin Morrison.

Before his career ended in tragedy, Mel Street was a talented hard country singer whose emotional style harked back to the honky tonk of yesteryear. He was born King Malachi Street in Grundy,VA; most sources list his birth date as 1933, but his family claims 1935. The son of a coal miner, Street first performed publicly on a radio show at age 16. He married, had a family, and moved around Ohio for a few years working as an electrician on radio transmission towers
