Green is an album of experiments. Freed from their usual roles, the band members tinkered with sugary pop, martial arena punk, fluttering folk rock, country flourishes, and dramatic dirges. Especially on the second side (referred to by the band as the metal side, referring not to the genre but to the element), these experiments collide for a set of songs as strong and as diverse as any sequence on previous albums.
