Love & Peace - Am I The Clown? flac album

The Clown is an album by Charles Mingus released in September 1957 on Atlantic Records as SD-1260. It is the follow-up to 1956's Pithecanthropus Erectus and features the improvised narration of Jean Shepherd. All the tracks were recorded on March 12, 1957, except for "The Clown", recorded on February 13 of the same year.

I vaguely recall reading a statistic stating that around 80% of all proposed and legitimate phobias only occur in the United States. While a part of me finds this hard to believe, another part of me realizes that it’s probably true. Nonetheless I am in love with this record. It was recorded during a stage when Mingus seemed interested in exploring technical proficiency rather than the personality and ideas of his compositions. There’s no doubt, from the catchy and vibrant opening riff of Haitian Fight Song he makes his hunger for respect on his instrument known. At one point he seemed calm, respectful, and completely at peace. Then seemingly without cause or reason he exploded into a childish and vulgar fit, cursing at the producer.

I am a fan of K-drama but now have become a bigger fan of K-movies. There is more artistic freedom that isn't shown on the dramas because of the censorship. The King and The Clown eventually went on to sell 12 million tickets, which is the largest ever for South Korea and its population of 48 million people. With that stated the film itself is a very good period piece that gets very dramatic as the movie develops. There are parts towards the end of the film which are quite depressing, which some will view as adding to the dramatic flair and others (like myself) finding it to be excessive.

Each of these roles that Jerry Lewis held in the making of The Day the Clown Cried effected his decision to not release the movie. I believe it was a collection of these duties that made himself hesitant to be judged. The fear of this movie being a disaster for 1972 is well defended. Then again, the idea of this movie being a masterpiece and one of Jerry Lewis's best, is also a realistic possibility. The vision that Jerry Lewis wanted and got I feel were two different products.
