The EP kicks off with the space journey of digital M1 chords and feel good lead lines of the original mix Supermoon. Here, Fedde portrays the simplicity of blending catchy 80s power-synth melodies with muffled disco-tinted basslines on top of a bed of raw drum machine debauchery.

With his Supermoon EP, recorded during a supermoon last August, Carey aims to bring his music closer to the natural world that inspired it, scaling back his precise arrangements to let the songs speak for themselves. That’s a noble goal, if not necessarily a wise one. Last year’s Range of Light proved Carey a stronger composer than lyricist, and although he’s got a capable enough falsetto, his voice never demands the spotlight the way Vernon’s does.

Berlin-based Mexican hotshot Fedde seriously impressed us with his ‘Supermoon’ EP on CVMR earlier this year, and after hearing more we were pleased to hear that the 4-tracker was no fluke. Flitting between melodic breakbeats, electro-funk and rolling, melodic deep house, his eclectic style is seriously accomplished whichever direction it goes in, and we can’t wait to hear more from him.
