Chris Wollard (born 1975) is a singer and guitarist in the band Hot Water Music from Gainesville, Florida. He's also a member of The Draft. Other Gainesville-based projects in which Wollard has participated include Baroque (featuring Samantha Jones), The Blacktop Cadence, The Cro(w)s (also known as The Sheryl Cro(w) Mags) and, most notably, Rumbleseat, alongside fellow Hot Water Music member Chuck Ragan, as well as bassist/vocalist Samantha Jones

Canyons keeps up the anthemics with "Crawl," maybe the album's best song and also its heaviest. Those who've seen the Ship Thieves live in the past few years can attest to the fact that Wollard essentially solos through the band's entire set (and it rips), and this song is the best example of that aspect of their arsenal. Really, the entire backend of the album does this; "Modern Faith" is a hell of a closing track, building and building through a mid-tempo base to a rollicking finish that–surprise–is anchored by a huge guitar solo from Wollard. It's the sound of a band coming together, playing to each other's strengths and the songs are better for it. Chris Wollard continues to be one of the best songwriters in our scene, some twenty years after he started.

Chris Wollard defied expectations with the first Ship Thieves record, turning in an album of varied songs ranging from rockers akin to his other band HOT WATER MUSIC to acoustic gems, to sleepy soundtracks for an all-night drive. In amongst the traditional sounds were tasteful flourishes and touches that were noticed more each with every spin. The album was a sleeper that seemed to hit people at just the right moment and garnered a large following, which continues to percolate and grow.
