One of the most stylistically prominent music video directors of the '90s, Hype Williams' defined aesthetic was one of the most sought-after in the genre - as it almost ensured heavy rotation on MTV, which in turn guaranteed large amounts of commercial success and sales. This DVD collection of videos handpicked by Williams himself is not necessarily a collection of his most well-known videos, but a very accurate and tastefully compiled survey of landmark videos that very clearly show his evolution as a ctor.

Hype Williams, comprised of Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland, is named after the film maker responsible for Belly. Starring rappers Nas and DMX, it was a hyper-stylised, Nihilist mess and this London duo borrow its finer traits, its strut and loathing. From beneath a medicated haze they lace twanging Americana with seams of swaggering dread. They are Bobby Peru made music.
