Eddy Marnay, the professional name of Edmond Bacri, (Algiers, 18 December 1920 – 3 January 2003), was a French songwriter. In his career, he wrote more than 4000 songs, including works for Édith Piaf, Frida Boccara and Céline Dion. He was joint winner, as lyricist, of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1969 for Un Jour, Un Enfant, sung by Frida Boccara. He also wrote the title song for Charlie Chaplin's 1957 film A King in New York.

Eddy Marnay was a songwriter and lyricist whose verbal passion elevated the chanson far above that pitiable level. He was drawn to song from his earliest youth in Algiers, when he used to play hookey from school to spend his days in the local cinemas, watching popular musicals of the Fred Astaire variety, and haunting the record shops listening to jazz classics. He produced the first songs by the gamine, songs that a few years later were to be sold in album form every 26 seconds all over the world. Dion's "D'amour ou d'amitié" from 1982 is still a best-seller. In the past year, his faithful friend Michel Legrand asked him to start work with him on re-drafting the libretto of The Count of Monte Cristo to celebrate "Dumas Year" in France. It had originally been staged in 1970. That's what was keeping him alive," says his constant collaborator

Eddy Marnay: French Jewish songwriter. Windmills of Your Mind - La Valse des Lilas (From "The Thomas Crown Affair"), Legrand: Les moulins de mon coeur (from the movie The Thomas Crown Affair), Je Vous Emmenerai Sur Mon Joli Bateau и другие песни.

The album became another commercial success, reaching Gold in Canada. Une colombe," performed by Dion for Pope John Paul II in front of 65,000 people at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal (1984) was also certified Gold. Mélanie produced two top ten Quebec singles in "Une colombe" and "Mon rêve de toujours," which peaked at number two and four, respectively.
