Tattoo You is the 16th British and 18th American studio album by the Rolling Stones, released in 1981. The follow-up to Emotional Rescue (1980), the album is mostly composed of studio outtakes recorded during the 1970s, and contains one of the band's most well-known songs, "Start Me Up", which hit number two on the United States's Billboard singles charts.
Start it up Start me up Ah, give it all You've got to, you've got to never, never, never stop Slide it up (Woo), oh baby, just slide it up Slide it up, slide it up, never, never, never. You make a grown man cry You make a grown man cry You make a grown man cry Ride like the wind at double speed I'll take you places that you've never, never seen'. If you start it up Love the day and we will never stop, never stop Never, never, never stop Start me up Never stop, never stop. A few overdubs later, there was an unexpected Rolling Stones classic, as Start Me Up shot up to in North America and in the UK and became a mainstay of the band’s concerts. It even was used by Microsoft to promote Windows 95. The lyrics are Mick Jagger claiming he feels soaring like a car or a plane, probably in bed (though why the partner makes a grown man cry is a good question!).
The Rolling Stones is the debut album by the Rolling Stones, released by Decca Records in the UK on 16 April 1964. The album is included in Robert Dimery's 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
The Rolling Stones are an English rock group that formed in London in 1962. First popular in Europe, they quickly became successful in North America during the "British Invasion" of the mid-60s. Since then, their worldwide sales are estimated at more than 200 million albums. In 1989, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2004, they ranked number 4 in Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
In 1981, 'Start Me Up' became one of the Rolling Stones' biggest hit singles After starting his career at Olympic Studios in Barnes, South London, during the late '60s, Chris Kimsey engineered albums by Bad Company, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Mott The Hoople, Spooky Tooth, Ten Years After, Peter Frampton and the Rolling Stones, before assuming a production and/or engineering role with the Stones, Jimmy Cliff, Pete Tosh, the Cult, Joan Jett,. Released in August 1981, Tattoo You is widely regarded as the Rolling Stones' last great album; an ingenious division of rock tracks on one side and ballads on the other captures "the world's greatest rock & roll band" close to their best.
The official promo video for the Rolling Stones' 'Start Me Up', directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg me up I'll never stop Never stop, never stop, never stop. You make a grown man cry (x3) Spread out the oil, the gasoline I walk smooth, ride in a mean, mean machine Start it up. If you start it up Kick on the starter give it all you got, you got, you got I can't compete with the riders in the other heats If you rough it up. Show more.
The 180,000 people who turned out to see the opening shows of the Rolling Stones‘ 1981 concert tour at Philadelphia’s John F. Kennedy Stadium couldn’t have cared less that the band was out of shape and two or three times older than many of those in the audience. After all, the whole point of seeing the Stones in a blimp nest like JFK is not simply to hear them, but to spend some time with them
