La Revancha del Tango is the debut album by French musical group Gotan Project. It was released on 22 October 2001 on XL Recordings and ¡Ya Basta! Records. The album contains a cover of the title track from Frank Zappa's 1970 album Chunga's Revenge and a cover of Gato Barbieri's theme for the 1972 film Last Tango in Paris. The album was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Founded by Philippe Cohen Solal, Eduardo Makaroff and Christoph H. Müller in 2000, Gotan Project released their debut album La revancha del tango. They delivered the sweetest revenge for Tango, bringing the sexy music and the sound of Argentina to the world. Now the sound of Gotan Project is synonymous with cool and chic from the clubs of New York to the beaches of Rio de Janeiro.

La Revancha del Tango. An unrivaled collection of themes representing a unique fusion amid traditional forms of music and the nouvelle fields of electronica, Gotan Project's La Revancha del Tango discloses unknown frontiers for the modern beat explorers. Inspired by Argentinean tango, Philippe Cohen Solal and Christophe H. Müller, responsible for projects such as Boys From Brazil or Stereo Action Unlimited, united their efforts with Eduardo Makaroff to record what ultimately became a daring musical piece.
