Do It Again" is a song written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love for the American rock band the Beach Boys, released as a single on July 8, 1968. It was written as a self-conscious callback to the group's earlier surf-based material, which they had not embraced since 1964. The song was issued only two weeks after the release of the band's album Friends, with the album track "Wake the World" as its B-side
Several other Beach Boys singles were much better liked by British fans than by their American counterparts. On 27 July 1968, the group entered the US chart at No. 88 with ‘Do It Again,’ a new single from the hit album they’d released earlier that year, 20/20. It made reasonable progress throughout August, but maybe it was the slightly more progressive, throbbing beat of the Brian Wilson-Mike Love composition that hampered its progress somewhat in America.

The Beach Boys are America's most successful band. Top 100 hits, 36 Top Ten Hits, and 4 Number One singles, their impression on American pop culture is rivaled only by the band that considered them to be their sole competition, The Beatles. To mark the group’s 50th anniversary, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks gathered in 2012 for an emotional reunion to record their first album of new material in 20 years, to kick off a worldwide tour, and to reflect on their remarkable history But in 1973 it was an album that almost never was. Beset by money problems, a studio in construction, heroin-taking managers, a lunatic drummer and a culture of really heavy drinking, Pete took on an album that nearly broke him and an album that within a year the band had turned their back on and would ignore for nearly three decades.
