The Downward Spiral Lyrics. He couldn't believe how easy it was He put the gun into his face Bang! (So much blood from such a tiny little hole) Problems do have solutions, you know A lifetime of fucking things up fixed in one determined flash. Everything's blue Everything's blue in this world The deepest shade of mushroom blue All fuzzy Spilling out of my head. About The Downward Spiral. One of the final songs on The Downward Spiral and an extraordinarily disturbing treatise on suicide . It is the final descent into madness before the album closer Hurt. It is also worth noting that the main acoustic guitar riff is a cleaner, more slowed down version of the creepy piano outro from Closer. The Downward Spiral" Track Info.
Nine Inch Nails second full-length studio album, The Downward Spiral (aka Halo 8) was created as a partially self-biographical tale about a man who was on a ‘downward spiral’ through depression to suicide. As with Halo 5, the album was recorded at 10050 Cielo Drive, the site Sharon Tate’s murder by the ‘Manson family’ in 1969. The house was converted into a record studio that Reznor called ‘Le Pig’, referencing when Susan Atkins wrote ‘Pig’ in Tate’s blood on the front door of the house. While I was working on Downward Spiral, I was living in the house where Sharon Tate was killed.
My best guess is that Nine Inch Nails hit upon just the right amount of dance music content to gloss up his dire tunes without scaring off the homophobes. Reznor's dance leanings are constantly bubbling just under the surface of The Downward Spiral, and it nearly goes without saying that the breakout hit, "Closer", leaned a bit more obviously in that direction than most of the rest of the album. Of course, The Downward Spiral wasn't just opening my early-teen eyes to the wonders of blasphemy and extended remixes, but also to the joy of the concept album- in coordination with Melon Collie & the Infinite Sadness, 1994/5 was a bumper crop for thematic excess. Reznor might've gone off the art-rock deep end with The Fragile, an album I have absolutely no recollection of whatsoever, but The Downward Spiral still holds together, aided by a few musical reprises and its monochromatic lyrical content.
The band was founded by lead singer, songwriter, producer, and t Trent Reznor, who was the band's only official member until adding English musician Atticus Ross in 2016.

Halo 8" of the official Nine Inch Nails halo releases, it is a concept album detailing the destruction of an undisclosed man; from the beginning to his climatic suicide. The album was a major commercial success that secured Nine Inch Nails as a force in the 1990s music scene, in particular following the release of the single "Closer" and its controversial video. To record the album, Reznor rented the house located at 10050 Ciel. iscover more music, concerts, videos, and pictures with the largest catalogue online at Last.
Is there a more menacing album to have penetrated the 1990s pop consciousness as profoundly as Nine Inch Nails’ second album, The Downward Spiral? Doubtful. Following from the preceding "Eraser" on Spiral, "Reptile" continues down a similarly ambitious musical path. At 6:51, it’s the longest song on the album; Reznor reportedly would have liked to have released as a single. Again, it’s a collision of layered sounds - how many tracks are really here? - proving again his genius with the technology at this finger tips.
