The Swedish Radio Choir, directed by Tonu Kaljuste, delivers a fantastically vivid performance of this beautiful work. The aspects that make this recording so wonderful is the combination of that spiritual intensity one hears from the best Eastern European choirs, combined with a slightly more transparent sound more associated with Western choirs - in short: ideal. In the movements where Cleobury and his King's College Choir drag somewhat, Kaljuste keeps his Swedish voices flowing, yet you never feel that it is rushed. However, this album has been put in with incorrect info. It is Kaljuste, but with the Swedish Radio Choir. Originally released in 1995, this one is a re-release in 2000. Kaljuste never recorded a CD of Vespers with the Estonian Philarmonic Choir. That honour went to Hillier.
