The debut offering from the Sense World Music label is by jugalbandi masters and brothers Rajan & Sajan Misra. The jugalbandi is a classical Hindustan vocal duet form; it is notable because it concentrates on the more abstract values in a song rather than on its literal text. There are two raags (ragas) here, recorded live at an afternoon session of the Saptak Festival. The first piece, over 45-minutes long, is a devotional piece to the Hindu goddess of music and learning, Sarawswati

Rajan and Sajan Mishra (Hindi: पंडित राजन-साजन मिश्र) are brothers and vocalists in the khyal style of Indian classical music. Rajan (born 1951) and Sajan (born 1956) Mishra were born and brought up in Varanasi. They received their initial musical training from their grandfather's brother, Bade Ram Das Ji Mishra, and also their father, Hanuman Prasad Mishra, and from their uncle, sarangi virtuoso, Gopal Prasad Mishra, and started performing while they were still in their teens.

Invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha as you listen to Gayiye Ganpati, sung by Pandits Rajan and Sajan Mishra. These musical brothers are part of a 300-year-old lineage of khyal singing of the Banaras gharana. Starting from humble beginnings they went on to conquer the world of music with their talent. The Satguru, realizing their talent, offered to pay double their living wages in exchange for them to put in more time to practice their vocals. This is also the place for the best of Indian New Age Music, besides the latest in Pop. Music Today is from the India Today Group. Track: Gayiye Ganpati. Album: Best of Ganesha Bhajans. Artist(s): Pandit Rajan Mishra, Sajan Mishra. Vocal/Instrumental: Vocal.
