A Tribute To Woody Guthrie. Exclusive Prime pricing. A Tribute To Woody Guthrie. From the onset I'll come right out and tell you: Woody Guthrie is my hero, has been. Since I first heard Bob Dylan mention his name, Guthrie's music has been an inextricably vital a part of my life; when I heard him perform, pardon me, sing his heart out, which he would, even for the simplest of songs like "Take You Riding In My Car" to the highly emotionally charged "Deportee," I knew this man was bound for glory.

A Part 2 LP, from a Guthrie memorial concert at the Hollywood Bowl in 1970, was released by Warner Brothers. Warner Brothers later released both LP performances on a single CD. The CD entitled A Tribute to Woody Guthrie (Warner Bros. 9 26036-2), subtitled "Highlights from Concerts at Carnegie Hall, 1968 Hollywood Bowl, 1970", is further described as "A 2-record set on 1 Specially Priced Compact Disc"; the back jewel box insert also contains the following statement: "Three tracks, "So Long (It's Been Good to Know Yuh)".

Arlo Guthrie, Woody's son, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Country Joe McDonald, Odetta, Jack Eliot, Richie Havens, Judy Collins, Tom Paxton and the brightest star of them all, Bob Dylan, were all folksingers in their own way. Like Guthrie, they built their songs on the rich tradition of American folk music and Guthrie showed them how the manifold sounds of the American soil could be transformed into a personal voice  . The concerts were originally released on two albums, A Tribute to Woody Guthrie, Part One (Columbia, 1972) and A Tribute to Woody Guthrie, Part Two (Warner Bros. It was a rare collaboration between Columbia and Warner.
