The Glitter Band are a glam rock band from England, who initially worked as Gary Glitter's backing band under that name from 1973, when they then began releasing records of their own. They were unofficially known as the Glittermen on the first four hit singles by Gary Glitter from 1972 to 1973. The Glitter Band had seven UK Top 20 hit singles in the mid-1970s, and three hit albums. Pete Phipps and John Springate are still currently touring with The Glitter Band. John Rossall tours under his own name.

The Glitter Band's first album included both of their initial brace of British hits: "Angel Face" and "Just for Yo. The remaining tracks are split between band originals, a version of the Gary Glitter/Mike Leander song "Rock On," and covers of oldies like "Sealed With a Kiss," "Sea Cruise," "All I Have to Do Is Dream," and "Gimme Some Loving  . On "Angel Face" they even got more mileage out of the "hey!" chants that had anchored Glitter's "Rock and Roll Part . The covers are forgettable, though the originals might be valued by glam fans. The 2001 CD reissue on 7T's adds three bonus tracks: "You Wouldn't Leave Me Would You" (the B-side of "Angel Face") and the demos "You Know You Should Be Glad" and "Ring Around.

Glitter Band Format: Vinyl. I was (am) a massive fan of the Glitter Band but I'm going to do my best to be as objective as possible. Following the first two singles (both included on this album) Angel face (UK no 5)and just for you (UK No8) an album "Hey" was released. The problem with this album is that it sounds rushed. The tracks are mostly covers which is ok but I think that the band could write great songs and I think this would have been a better record if they had waited a bit and did some original compositions, having said that there are some great moments here like the version of "Gimme some.
