Il filosofo di campagna (The Country Philosopher) is a dramma giocoso per musica in 3 acts by composer Baldassare Galuppi. The work premiered at the Teatro San Samuele in Venice on 26 October 1754. Il filosofo di campagna, which has been defined a "masterly opera", obtained a great success, with many performances throughout Europe.

Playwright Carlo Goldoni and composer Baldassare Galuppi collaborated on a number of operas, and the most successful was the comedy Il Filosofo di Campagna (1754). Although there is no indication in any of the skimpy packaging information, this is a disc of excerpts, not the complete opera, which lasts close to three hours. The selections are about evenly divided between recitatives, arias, and ensembles. The lively comic performances of soprano Anna Moffo and baritone Rolando Panerai are the CD's strongest selling points

Il maestro di cappella is an operatic intermezzo in one act by Domenico Cimarosa. Though often translated in English as The Music Teacher, the Italian term maestro di cappella is the equivalent of the German kapellmeister - "master of the choir or orchestra". The first known performance of the work was on 2 July 1793 in Berlin, Germany. However, it is likely that this was not the premier production, and music historians believe the opera debuted some time between 1786 and 1792
