Beethoven: Violin Sonatas No. 5 - Spring & No. 9 - Kreutzer. Ludwig van Beethoven. Perhaps the only criticism is that, compared with the sublime Kreutzer offering - it is hard to believe that the spirit and drive of the central andante's variations and the sheer joy of the presto finale could be bettered - the Spring does not come alive to quite the same extent. Plaudits abound for the Naxos determination to expose new "no-name-brand" musical talent for the benefit of both the artists and those of us who enjoy great music at a very resonable price.
