Really is the second album by J. J. Cale. It was released in 1973. After several years in California working as an engineer in Leon Russell’s studio, Cale returned home to Oklahoma gigging in obscurity when Eric Clapton recorded the arrangement of After Midnight that Cale had released as a B-side to an obscure Liberty single in 1966. The song became a hit in 1970 and put Cale on the map as a songwriter.

Cale recalled, "I didn't really want to carry a gun and do all that stuff so I joined the Air Force and what I did is I took technical training and that's kind of where I learned a little bit about electronics  .

This album has an average beat per minute of 125 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 86/194 BPM). See its BPM profile at the bottom of the page.

Album · 1972 · 12 Songs. The album was recorded in a variety of settings and it wears its patchwork influences well. On Lies Cale’s signature shuffle is bolstered by a Dixie horn section, while If You’re Ever in Oklahoma is a slippery piece of flatland bluegrass. Though Really doesn’t have the sense of cohesion that makes Okie and Troubadour classics, several of its cuts catch Cale in rare form
