Red Sun Rising is an American rock band from Akron, Ohio. The band has released two studio albums through the Razor & Tie record label; their first, Polyester Zeal, in 2015, and their second, Thread, on March 30, 2018. The band also released an EP titled "Peel" on March 22, 2019. Red Sun Rising formed in 2006 when Mike Protich and Ryan Williams, who used to be high school classmates, struck up a conversation about music at a gas station.

Close to the Sun is the fourth album of the melodic hard rock band Place Vendome. In 2014, Red Sun Rising - now working with bassist Ricky Miller and drummer Pat Gerasia - signed with well-established indie label Razor & Tie Records, and in early 2015 they returned to the studio with producer Bob Marlette. The group's first album for Razor & Tie, Polyester Zeal, was released in August 2015 and debuted at number 11 on the Billboard Hard Rock album chart, with the singles "The Otherside" and "Emotionless" hitting number one on the Mainstream Rock chart. In 2018, the band issued their sophomore effort, Thread, again via Razor & Tie. ~
