I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down. There's battle lines being drawn Nobody's right if everybody's wrong Young people speaking their minds Getting so much resistance from behind. I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down. What a field-day for the heat A thousand people in the street Singing songs and carrying signs Mostly say, hooray for our side. It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down

For What It's Worth (Stop, Hey What's That Sound)" (often referred to as simply "For What It's Worth") is a song written by Stephen Stills. Performed by Buffalo Springfield, it was recorded on December 5, 1966; released as a single on Atco Records on December 23, 1966; and peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was later added to the March 1967 second pressing of their first album, Buffalo Springfield. The title was added after the song was written, and does not appear in the lyrics.

This song is by The Candyskins and appears on the album Space I'm In (1991) and on the movie soundtrack Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003). This song is a cover of "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield. There's something happening hereWhat it is ain't exactly clearThere's a man with a gun over thereTelling me I got to beware. For What It’s Worth Lyrics. There's something happening here But what it is ain't exactly clear There's a man with a gun over there Telling me I got to beware. Recorded by Buffalo Springfield as a single, it was eventually released in 1967 on their self-titled album. Buffalo Springfield was the house band for LA’s famous Whiskey A Go Go during the time of the riots, which led Stephen Stills to pen the song. Much has been written about the song; one of the best sources of information is Reason to Rock.
