Stephen Batt (born 1 December 1959), known professionally as Steve Jansen, is an English musician, composer and record producer. He was a founding member of the band Japan, along with his brother David Sylvian (vocals, guitars and keyboards), Mick Karn (bass guitar), Richard Barbieri (keyboards), and Rob Dean (guitar), having all met in Catford.

Lumen' is a rare recording of the only Steve Jansen/Richard Barbieri concert ever to be performed. The show was recorded at the Melkweg, Amsterdam on 1st Nov 1996 as part of the famous Dutch Magazine OOR's 25th anniversary celebrations. All that you hear on 'Lumen' is what happened on the night, warts and all, and is in every sense a true live album. In recent years Richard Barbieri has been a core member of Porcupine Tree playing keyboards on all the band's albums since 1993 as well as releasing solo albums and projects with Steve Hogarth.

Jansen and Barbieri were joined on stage by Mick Karn and Steven Wilson. All that is heard on Lumen is what happened on the night, warts and all. Lumen is, in every sense, a true live album
