The Monarchs are an American doo-wop band from Louisville, Kentucky, formed in 1961. They are known mainly for their 1964 recording of "Look Homeward Angel". This single went to on Billboard Hot 100 and also reached on local and regional charts. Their first recording was "Over The Mountain" recorded in 1962 and released on the Reegal Label. This Old Heart" by James Brown, was recorded in 1963 and topped local charts.

Monarchs of Oblivion is the follow-up to The Hazytones' 2017 self-titled debut, hailed as "totally new yet oddly recognizable. Formed in 2015, The Hazytones' shadowy sound is the epitome of a "hazy tone". The band's black acid-drenched shock rock drips with harmonies that harken back to the trippiest of late 60's psych and its chained-to-the brain hooks bleed with a palpable, eerie energy that surges and swings in equal measure  . Grégoire Guery Great follow-up to a formidable first opus. Colin M. I am really digging this album. The sound is definitely a bit darker than on before and it fits the fuzzy riff rock quite well.

II – Monarchs Of Oblivion is the first album I’ve heard from the band, and, for the sake of fresh ears, I chose to dive into it without going back to their earlier work. That being said, this is a groove filled, fuzzed out, killer record, and a great intro to the band for new listeners. Hell, the second track, begins with a really sweet, groovy riff. For the verses, they palm mute that same part for added power, but open it up as the section moves on. I really dig the slow tempo they use before the solo, it’s got a great heavy feel; plus, it leads up to the guitar solo nicely
