Hope I don't wake in the morning Find you running right away Every hour I'm down and worried Dream about night a day a-yay. To many places you can go When drowning in your sleep But no one wants to lay awake For hours counting sheep. I'm fine what about you OK tell me the news We all know how to fight When there's something to lose
Hope I don't wake in the morning Find you running right away Every hour I'm down and worried Dream about it night and day To many places you can go When drowning in your sleep But no one wants to lie awake For hours counting sheep I'm fine what about you OK tell me the news We all know how. to fight When there's something to lose In my mind I feel elation For many days I know you'll go Surrounded by four walls And by yourself you'll stay inside Behind your own front door Well I need to be on my way Hope to get through another day Well you know what shape I'm.

Stephen Richard Hackett (born 12 February 1950) is an English musician, songwriter, singer, and producer who gained prominence as the lead guitarist of the progressive rock band Genesis from 1971 to 1977. Hackett contributed to six Genesis studio albums, three live albums, seven singles and one EP before he left to pursue a solo career. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010.
Hackett's first post-Genesis album was Please Don't Touch, released in 1978. As with Voyage of the Acolyte (1975), much of the material on the album was in the style of progressive rock. It did contain, however, much more vocal work. Hackett, who had never sung lead or backing vocals on a Genesis song, turned over most of the vocals to a number of singers, including folk singer Richie Havens, R&B singer Randy Crawford, and Steve Walsh of American progressive rock group Kansas. 1969: The Road (Steve Hackett and his brother John recorded an album with this band Quiet World in 1969. The bass player Dick Driver would rejoin Steve during his solo career).

Hackett says they spent about two years running about and working on the idea, followed by nine months recording the album. The bulk of the period leading up to entering the studio was spent writing songs and solidifying the group’s lineup, which led to some discussions and division with Geffen Records, which was going to sign the group. It looked like we were going to sign to Geffen, but Geffen’s label really wanted everyone in the band to be a star, he recalls. In other words, they wanted an Asia Mach II, and we had two guys who were well-known. However, I don’t blame him for what happened. If anything, I was more to blame. Maybe I should have done more to accommodate Steve. Efforts to move forward in the wake of Hackett’s departure found Howe working briefly with both Robert Berry on guitar and, eventually, Saxon’s Nigel Glockler on drums, but things didn’t get very far.
