Handel: Concerti Grossi O. Handel: Concerti Grossi Op. 6, Nos. 9-12. Trevor Pinnock and The English Concert (EC) play the Concerti Grossi by Handel extremely well. This period instrument presentation is first class, and the sound quality of the performances is excellent as well. All said, this is an excellent album. Deutsche Grammophon have made sure that the differentiation between soloists and tutti, or perhaps rather between concertino and orchestra (strings: 3-3-2-2-1 plus oboes, bassoon, harpsichord and chamber organ) can be clearly heard, but this tends to be at the expense of the main body of musicians: a comparison with Christopher Hogwood's recording of the same repertoire led me.

The Twelve Concerti Grossi, op. 6, is a set of concerti written by Arcangelo Corelli, and published in 1714. The concertos are all for a concertino group of 2 violins and a cello, against a string orchestra + continuo. Handel took them as models for his own Op. 6 Concerti Grossi. Concerti Grossi, Op. 3 (Handel). George Frideric Handel by Thomas Hudson (1749). The Concerti Grossi, Op. 3, HWV 312–317, are six concerti grossi by George Frideric Handel compiled into a set and published by John Walsh in 1734. The six concertos have anything between two and five movements, but only one of them contains the usual four movements. Only occasionally are the instrumental forces set in the traditional concerto grosso manner, . a tutti group and a contrasting, soloistic concertino group  . Handel Concerti Grossi Op. 3" (PDF).
