Despite her parent's best efforts to encourage a direction towards classical music, the environment in Nashville, plus the early local programming on radio, convinced her that she wanted to play piano in the honky-tonk style.

This album was recorded stereophonically and monaurally at Bradley's Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. Mort Thomasson was the recording engineer. Instruments and microphone utilized were as follows: Del Wood's piano, Altec 150-A; vocal group, Telefunken U-47; bass guitar, direct, high third guitar, Telefunken CM-61, bass, Electro-Voice 666; drums, Telefunken CM-51, rhythm guitar, Altec 639, electric guitar, RCA 77; piano, Telefunken CM-61. The album was recorded on Ampex tape recorders at 15 inches per second.
