Southern fried chicken, also known simply as fried chicken, is a dish consisting of chicken pieces which have been coated in a seasoned batter and pan-fried, deep fried, or pressure fried. The breading adds a crisp coating or crust to the exterior of the chicken while retaining juices in the meat. Broiler chickens are most commonly used. The first dish known to have been deep fried was fritters, which were popular in the European Middle Ages.

SFC, also known as Southern Fried Chicken, is a British-based fast food outlet. It operates a franchise network in the United Kingdom and worldwide. Southern Fried Chicken and its products can be found in over 700 locations, across over 79 countries. Southern Fried Chicken was founded in the 1970s by Arthur Withers. In 1973, Withers travelled to America to work for Barbeque King; there, he improved his knowledge of the commercial fast food business.

Fry the chicken in the oil until brown and crisp. Dark meat takes longer then white meat. It should take dark meat about 13 to 14 minutes, white meat around 8 to 10 minutes. Heat to approximately 365 degrees F (185 degrees C). Place chicken pieces in hot oil. Cover, and fry until golden, turning once, 15 to 20 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Dixie Chicken is the third studio album by the American rock band Little Feat, released in 1973. The artwork for the front cover was by illustrator Neon Park and is a reference to a line from the album's third track, the song "Roll Um Easy". The album is considered their landmark album with the title track as their signature song that helped further define the Little Feat sound.
