Released October 5, 2018. When mewithoutYou began writing their seventh studio album, they didn’t know they’d be entering into one of the most prolific periods of their career. The year-long course of writing resulted in over 20 songs, only 14 of which were brought into the studio with producer Will Yip. However, during the studio recording process, the band continued to write and develop the unused material, eventually expanding to 19 tracks, tipping the scales into ‘double album’ territory.

blows in with the force of a category five hurricane. 7/29’ is as vicious and ugly as Aaron Weiss has sounded since A- B Life, or perhaps ever. It’s the kind of introduction that sends a message, much like how Brand New’s ‘Vices’ immediately made clear the motives of Daisy. The result is mewithoutYou’s most tense and visceral creation. The way that shifts gears between harmony and raucousness, often abruptly, can be a little bit disorienting.

mewithoutYou’s seventh album will be released this fall on Run For Cover Records. For eighteen years, the Philadelphia band has been a banner name for fans across genres because of their kinetic and truly original style. On their latest Album, the band continues to create the same intensity that has captivated fans for almost two decades. The album was produced by Will Yip at nearby Studio 4, the same place where 2015’s epic Pale Horses was tracked. The intense two year writing process included a stay at a 150 year old barn in Western Pennsylvania.

finds mewithoutYou in the midst of renovation. They’ve labored over their previous releases, building up the sturdiest aspects of what has always made them unique and polished those areas that they found to be lacking. For many artists, a seventh album often brings with it stagnation, but here, it is a sign of true growth.
