Dee talks with award winning cable television director Marty Callner about the start of HBO, his genre defining work in sports, comedy, rock video and live concerts. Plus Callner's creation of Pee Wee's Playhouse, Hardknocks and the "Ready Freddy".

Dee Snider's neck veins bulge as he emits an evil chuckle. The ringlet-haired Twisted Sister frontman is trying to regale fans at the Rock & Blues Custom Show in Derbyshire with the story behind one of Twisted Sister’s biggest hits, but he’s hit a memory block. What was the name of that fucking asshole? he enquires of nearby Jay Jay French. Twisted Sister had their work cut out, following the success of their first major label album, 1983’s You Can’t Stop Rock ’N’ Roll (an independent debut called Under The Blade, on Secret Records, had introduced them to the world 12 months earlier). He and Marty Callner pretty much wrote the storyboards. Neither French nor Snider will admit to a shred of embarrassment at the cheese factor of Neidermeyer blowing himself up with grenades, falling through the floor and being covered in cement.

Directed by Marty Callner, the We’re Not Gonna Take It video featured Mark Metcalf, best known for – and unabashedly playing off of – playing the role of Douglas C. Niedermeyer in National Lampoon’s Animal House. In the video, Metcalf’s character is chastising his son for having no interests beyond his guitar and Twisted sister

This week, Dee Snider, legendary frontman of Twisted Sister, will release a new solo album called Dee Does Broadway. The record features Dee's powerful voice and theatrical persona as he exudes his rock 'n' roll take on several Broadway classics

DEE SNIDER has made a name for himself over the years in the world of rock and heavy metal. His voice is untameable, his attitude is outrageous, his love is metal. The days of TWISTED SISTER are now being left behind in the loved past, and his solo career is moving on quicker than the speed of light. We managed to chat with the titan himself to discuss his new album For The Love Of Metal, his views on how mental health in the music industry is now being spoken about more, his non-stop adventures and of course, his love of metal. How are you doing? Dee: I’m doing all right thank you.

Within days, Metcalf agreed to reprise his famous role in the video. For an outcast kid from Long Island to have his crazy ideas brought to life like that was almost overwhelming, Snider wrote.
