Here we have somebody who plays an authentic Blues with roots running deep in the Delta. There is a subtle mix of covers with Gordon’s own compositions

Over the years Gordon Smith has played alongside Jimmy Rogers, Billy Boy Arnold, Snooky Prior and also supported Muddy Waters, Jo-Ann Kelly, Lowell Fulson and Dr Ross amongst many others as well as recording some excellent albums. Gordon recorded his first album in 1968 on Mike Vernon's Blue Horizon label backed by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac (this album entitled "Long Overdue" has for years been a collector's item but it was re-released in 2008 on a double CD issued by Sony including twelve previously unreleased tracks). In 2009 "The Essential Gordon Smith" was released and is musically one of the finest blues studio recordings issued over the last decade.

Gordon Duffield Smith (born 29 December 1954 in Kilwinning) is a Scottish football player, coach and executive. Smith played for several clubs, including Kilmarnock, Rangers, Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester City. After retiring as a player, he worked as a football agent and BBC football pundit before being appointed chief executive of the Scottish Football Association in 2007, a post he held until his resignation on 19 April 2010.

Gordon Smith, an only child, was born to Gordon, Snr. and Olive Smith on March 12 1949, at his grandparent's house, 42 School Loaning, Simonside, South Shields, Tyne & Wear. Because of this interest, his father bought Gordon his first acoustic guitar. His first attempt at imitating the 'blues masters' was at playing alongside a Muddy Waters album.
