J-Live - Them That's Not flac album

Produced by Brian Wilson, the album was recorded to coincide with the band's 50th anniversary. It is their first album to feature original material since Summer in Paradise in 1992, their first album to feature guitarist and backing vocalist David Marks since Little Deuce Coupe in 1963, and their first album since the 1998 death of co-founder Carl Wilson.

The album art itself is a picture of Chris McClure- the representative of The Violet May and a general participator in petty crime and delinquency (also a friend of Alex Turner). It was taken in the Korova bar in Liverpool in the early hours in the morning after the band had given them seventy pounds to spend on drinks and admission to clubs and the like. This sums up the superficial late-night mood of most of the songs. The back of the album shows is an image of the same man rubbing his eyes- indicating he was crying. This adds the layer of melancholy that made this album so ground-breaking.

They’ve made an album that . punk fans of several generations could enjoy, if not claim as their own. It seems unlikely that this world of chavs in track suits with pool cues in fists will translate to the average Fall Out Boy fan. But for now, Arctic Monkeys are turning their cold small-town roots into callow Anglo cool.

How did that come together? DAVID J: That’s quite interesting, really. I did a show in Los Angeles a couple of years ago, I was invited to do two nights at this little theater called The Cavern Club. I wanted to do something special, and so I came up with this idea of a themed show called Bouquets, Wreaths and Laurels, which is a title of an old song of mine. It’s an accidental concept album, and then I consciously started to bring in other songs that it into that theme. EYEBALLS: You’ve also got sort of trilogy of real-life characters: Hank Williams, Spaulding Gray and Jeff Buckley, all of whom met tragic ends. How did you come to incorporate those three?
