This album, a maid in bedlam was recorded in 1977. The album is quite different from Renbourn's previous work since it shows a keen interest in the rhythms and scales of Indian Classical music. It really is a magical album and has to be one of the most classic folk albums of all time. It stands out because the whole album has such an original sound where everything works perfectly. There is the beauty of McShee’s voice added to the great fiddle playing of Sue Drahiem. This 1977 release found John Renbourn forming a group to flesh out his solo sound, and reunited him with vocalist Jacqui McShee from Pentangle. The result is a delicious folk album, dominated by Renbourn's beautiful guitar work backing McShee's sweet vocals as we are led through ballads of love and loss.
