Good Vibrations – Best of The Beach Boys is the fourth official compilation album by The Beach Boys, and the first on their Brother Records imprint.

About Good Vibrations. The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson recounted the genesis of the title Good Vibrations in his 1995 biopic, I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times, and at other times. This song and the album Pet Sounds in general greatly influenced the Beatles, which resulted in Sgt. Pepper. What have the artists said about the song? In Brian Wilson’s words –.

Beach Boys lead singer Mike Love wrote the lyrics for this song, which he told us were "basically a flowery poem. The song seems to describe a really good acid trip, and while there is nothing specifically in the lyrics about drugs, Love admits that the psychedelic vibe was an influence on his words. Said Love: "It was this flowery power type of thing. The Beach Boys hired Paul Tanner and "The Box" for the fascinating theremin like sound in classic 1966 "Good Vibrations". The normal recording sessions began after midnight at Brian's home. When Paul asked Brian for the sheet music, Brian laughed because he could not write music, it was all in his head.

A five-CD box set, containing a whopping 142 tracks and covering the group's entire career, that manages to feel like too much and not enough at the same time. True, all of the key hits and most of their finest album tracks are here. The group's decline after 1966 - and very sharp decline after 1970 - is inescapable, and even though most of the material here is from the 1960s, the fourth disc especially (spanning the early '70s to the late '80s) is very rough sailing indeed.
