Acid Witch takes an over the top lyrical approach that owes a lot to old horror movies and metal stereotypes, so there's a kind of White Zombie vibe as well. Throw it all together and the end result is as heavy and grooving as it is wickedly fun. I can see how some doom metal purists would have a problem with Acid Witch's offbeat approach, but stoner rock fans ought to love Stoned. I'm definitely glad I took a chance on it. The one thing that makes Acid Witch such an interesting band is the whole Halloween theme they have going on. It started on their first album, Witchtanic Hellucinations, and it continues here on Stoned. All of the lyrical themes are about horror, witchcraft, and even some marijuana references thrown in for good measure. Musically the album is like you're on an acid trip. The psychedelic nature of the keyboards are very noticeable and prominent on pretty much every song on the album. That element makes this band stand out from other doom bands out there

2010's Stoned (now there's an appropriate title) is the second full-length album from Michigan-based horror/stoner fiends Acid Witch. I picked this disc up on a whim, mainly because of the cover art and some of the ridiculous song titles ("Witchfynder Finder," "Stoned to the Grave" and "Metal Movie Marijuana Massacre Meltdown" to name a few). I expected something fairly heavy, and I was not disappointed.Acid Witch has a pretty unique take on the doom metal/stoner rock sounds. Obviously the thick, groovy, Sabbath-style riffs are there. There's really no way around that. But they add a heavy keyboard/organ sound like you'd expect in an old Coven or Warhorse album, plus harsh, death metal-style vocals. I'm tied to either this album or Witchtanic Hellucinations being my top two favorite Acid Witch releases. Very psychedelic doomy growly stuff here, reminds me of a trippy Halloween music METAL style.

Great album from tricksters Acid Witch! A huge improvement over the last LP in my opinion. This is more of the same, but catchier. Halloween is still the theme and many tracks hold cheesy Hammond/Farsifa keyboard sounds accompanying more traditional power chords and death vocals (given that special acidic pox o' th' throat, of course). Many of the songs slow to a crawl, almost doom-like. This is pop music given over to 70s exploitation and psychotropic cauldron brews. It's great to see metal not take itself seriously for a change. Recommended.

I was trying to think of ways I could express my feelings about this album, but you pretty much nailed all of it. Should be a classic of the genre, in my opinion anyway.
