The services of Pascha mark the end of Christ’s Passion and the beginning of new life in the resurrection of the risen Lord. All come and partake of this joy. Along with audio recordings of Paschal hymns sung by the Sretensky Monastery Choir, we present an outline of the services of the Bright Resurrection of Christ. The Holy Epitaphion is placed on the altar table and remains there until the leave-taking of Pascha, just before the Ascension, in remembrance that Christ the Savior was on the Earth for forty days after His Resurrection. From apostolic times, the Church has always celebrated the Paschal services at night. Choir: Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and on those in the tombs bestowing life! Holy Cross monastic community was originally founded in 1986 in Home Springs, Missouri. Offering hospitality has always been a priority for the brothers at the Hermitage of the Holy Cross. Abbot Seraphim often quotes St. Benedict, who said, Let every guest be received as Christ. He adds, We try to be welcoming to everyone and give, at least, a quick tour to all guests. Many of our visitors have very little knowledge about monastic life, and we are happy to talk with them about what does it mean to be a monk and live at a monastery.

As always our beloved monastery, the Hermitage of the Holy Cross, will hold it’s annual pilgrimage on the weekend after the Exaltation of the Cross - Sept. We will only have a reader’s service next Sunday, Oct. 1 at St. George, since many of our parishioners join in this pilgrimage. Christ is Risen! I happened upon this GoFundMe page for a new lawn mower for the cemetery and grounds at Jordanville. Fr. Paul Bassett is buried in this cemetery, as well as many other friends and family members of our parish. Tomorrow is the anniversary of Fr.
