Whether you know him as Luke McDaniel, or Jeff Daniels, or even if you don't know him at all, any and every fan of real original 50's rockabilly will love this. Active from the early 50's until the late 70's, and with his recordings spread across several labels, Luke McDaniel is one of the true originals. Like many young hopefuls, he started out at Sun. However none of the five numbers he laid down for Sam Phillips - all of which are included here - was released at the time. A joy to speak about this man, Luke McDaniel. Recorded in Ms. for Trumpet label and King In the 50's.

McDaniel and Rogers arrived at Sun in September 1956. The first session, at which McDaniel recorded Go Ahead, Baby, was on September 4th or 5th and featured an unknown group probably led by guitarist Brad Suggs. A second session was held in January 1957. It featured a saxophonist, and probably Roland Janes on guitar. My Baby Don't Rock came from the second session. McDaniel expected to get Musicians Union scale for the sessions, but Phillips saw them as demo sessions and wouldn't pay.
