The Secret is the fifth solo album by English rock musician Alan Parsons. It was released on 26 April 2019 via Frontiers. The time between this and Parsons' previous album, A Valid Path in 2004, marks the longest gap between two consecutive albums, totaling more than 15 years. Adapted from Blabbermouth. The Alan Parsons Live Project has been his bread and butter gig for the past two decades, and another album wasn’t on the cards until Frontiers Records founder and Parsons fan Serafino Perugino approached him last year. The songs on The Secret were pulled out of the hat over 2018, but Parsons is a lifelong fan of magic, and the theme for his fifth solo album is one he has harboured for years. The Secret draws on magic and mystery in allegorical, poetical ways, and marks a return to the recording and songwriting approach of the Project’s halcyon days.

The Secret is Alan Parsons first studio album in 15 years. His last album, A Valid Path, was released in 2004. Since then he has toured and released several live albums, and also oversaw the reissue of expanded versions of classic Alan Parsons Project albums. But The Secret is a welcome return and it lives up to expectations. This is one brilliant album. As with the Alan Parsons Project, Parsons decided to work with various vocalists and there are some surprises, such as Foreigner’s Lou Gramm on Sometimes and Jason Mraz taking lead vocals for Miracle.
