Bridge over Troubled Water is the fifth and final studio album by American folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, released in January 1970 on Columbia Records. Following the duo's soundtrack for The Graduate, Art Garfunkel took an acting role in the film Catch-22, while Paul Simon worked on the songs, writing all tracks except Felice and Boudleaux Bryant's "Bye Bye Love" (previously a hit for the Everly Brothers).
Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей Simon And Garfunkel. Bridge Over Troubled Water " El Condor Pasa " (LP, Album). CBS, Columbia Records. Simon & Garfunkel.
Bridge Over Troubled Water was one of the biggest-selling albums of its decade, and it hasn't fallen too far down on the list in years since. Apart from the gospel-flavored title track, which took some evolution to get to what it finally became, however, much of Bridge Over Troubled Water also constitutes a stepping back from the music that Simon & Garfunkel had made on Bookends - this was mostly because the creative partnership that had formed the body and the motivation for the duo's four prior. albums literally consumed itself in the making of Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Bridge over Troubled Water (song). Bridge over Troubled Water" is a song by American music duo Simon & Garfunkel. Produced by the duo and Roy Halee, the song was released as the follow-up single to "The Boxer" in January 1970. The song is featured on their fifth studio album, Bridge over Troubled Water (1970). Composed by singer-songwriter Paul Simon, the song is performed on piano and carries the influence of gospel music.
Bridge Over Troubled Water was the last album Simon & Garfunkel released before they split up. It is the biggest selling ever for Columbia Records. In 2010, the Songwriters Hall of Fame honored this song with its Towering Song Award .
On their final album, Simon & Garfunkel progressed beyond folk-rock, once and for all. The classic title track underpins Simon's openhearted lyric and Garfunkel's angelic vocal with massive, gorgeous orchestration. They visit South America on "El Condor Pasa/If I Could" and "So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright," and the Caribbean on the rollicking percussion workout "Cecilia. They even reclaim their '50s roots with a heartfelt Everly Brothers cover
Bridge Over Troubled Water, released in 1970, was Simon & Garfunkel’s final studio album and their greatest success. The title track won an unprecedented five Grammy Awards, while the complete record won Album of the Year. The album stayed at for 10 weeks, remained on the chart for a total of 85 weeks, and has been certified 8X platinum. Even as the duo was coming apart, their partnership produced a transcendent work of art that appeals to a diverse audience to this day. In addition to the title track, the album includes the hits The Boxer, Cecilia, El Condor Pasa (If I Could),.
