Here's the first-ever complete remastering of Kraftwerk's eight studio albums, all with magnificent new sound and mini-LP-style packaging for each CD. They all boast big booklets, and this set is the only place you'll find the new remasters of Computer World, Techno Pop and The Mix. Those join Autobahn, Radio-Activity, Trans-Europe Express, The Man-Machine and Tour de France Soundtracks.

In 1970 Kraftwerk played for the very first time live, and that was at Berlin’s techno club Tresor in Soest, a small town in West Germany. The rare recording which was hidden in the WDR archives is up on YouTube and can be viewed below. To be precise, the upload already happened on March 25th 2014, but has only gathered 6. 00 views so far, not much for such a historical document.

Former Kraftwerk percussionist Karl Bartos features in the new issue of Uncut (February 2013, Take 189), out now, discussing the upcoming Kraftwerk retrospective shows in London, and his own new solo album, Off The Record.

The first three albums by Kraftwerk, Kraftwerk 1, Kraftwerk 2 and Ralf & Florian are out of print, as is Tone Float, the album which Hütter and Schneider recorded as part of the group Organisation. Hütter and Schneider have allegedly talked about seeing these albums released, but have certainly not rushed to do so.

The album is Kraftwerk at its most melancholy and oblique- wreathed in decaying fuzz and crackle and ghostly background tones. It's also where the band's remastering job is least effective. Computer World is the first album in The Catalogue with no nods to history- it abandons the 20s and 30s as touchstones and explicitly relates to the then present day, that giddy era at the start of the home computer boom.
