Clairvoyance is the 1986 debut studio album by the alternative rock band Screaming Trees, produced by Steve Fisk. Released on Velvetone Records, the album helped the band earn a contract with SST Records. While it is very much a combination of psychedelic and garage rock, it bears many similarities to early grunge.

The discography of Screaming Trees, an Ellensburg, Washington-based rock band, consists of eight studio albums, three compilation albums, five extended plays (EP), and six singles, though this does not include any solo material recorded by the individual members of Screaming Trees.

Screaming Trees' full-length debut is a surprisingly accomplished affair. Unlike many Northwest acts of the time, it doesn't seem to be haunted by the ghosts of the Stooges or the MC5, instead the Doors, perhaps, or possibly even the Teardrop Explodes (Mark Lanegan's deep voice is somewhat reminiscent of Jim Morrison or Julian Cope, but with a slight twang)  . The album starts off with the bang of the Thirteenth Floor Elevatorsish "Orange Airplane," which bears the unmistakable stamp of producer Steve Fisk (Pell Mell, Pigeonhed). A child yells the title over and over again as Screaming Trees plunge into a neo-psychedelic rave-up over and around it.

The CD re-issue of The Screaming Trees' 1986 vinyl-only debut, "Clairvoyance" Featuring Mark Lanegan who would later go on to front Queens of The Stone Age, The Screaming Trees blended hard rock, psychedelic and grunge better than anyone else in the 80's - inspiring the grunge and stoner rock acts that followed in their footsteps. If you are a Trees fan get this album NOW! You can hear the most obvious infuence on their debut. Doorsy guitar playing rages all over and splashes of keyboards crash through a few tracks.

If you can get past the sounds of the record spinning at times then you will enjoy this album. I absolutely love track 9 The Turning!! I love this band. Mark is an amazing singer and was already great this early in his career. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful. Talk about Screaming Trees - Clairvoyance

This is a very good 1st offering from an amazingly underrated band. The Doors are most definitely an influence here. 1 thing about this CD is that it is obvious it is taken from a LP. If you can get past the sounds of the record spinning at times then you will enjoy this album. I absolutely love track 9 The Turning!! I love this band. Mark is an amazing singer and was already great this early in his career.
