Mystery Train" is a song written and recorded by American blues musician Junior Parker in 1953. Originally performed in the style of a Memphis blues or rhythm and blues tune, it was inspired by earlier songs and later became a popular rockabilly song, as first covered by Elvis Presley, then numerous others. Music historian Colin Escott noted "One of the mysteries about 'Mystery Train' was where the title came from; it was mentioned nowhere in the song"

I Forgot to Remember to Forget" is a 1955 country song first recorded by Elvis Presley written by Stan Kesler and Charlie Feathers. It was recorded at Sun Studio on July 11, 1955, by Elvis Presley, Scotty Moore, Bill Black, and Johnny Bernero on drums, and released on August 20, 1955, along with "Mystery Train" (Sun 223). It was first rereleased along with Mystery Train by HMV in New Zealand in November 1955, the first appearance of Presley on 12 vinyl internationally (MCLP 6001).

All ten of the songs that Elvis Presley recorded for his five singles on the Sun label are well-remembered and frequently analyzed, by the very large cult of Elvis Presley aficionados at any rate. I Forgot to Remember to Forget" is one of the less-remembered of these, perhaps because it was on the other side of one of Elvis' most well-known rock songs ("Mystery Train"), perhaps because it leaned toward country rather than rock. Still, "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" is an excellent early rockabilly record, and a good illustration that good rockabilly could.
